Rock n Roll Lake Balaton Wedding Photos in Hungary

Where do I start with Timea & Paul’s awesome Rock n Roll wedding on the shores of Lake Balaton? Talk about how awesome these two are? What an incredible day it was with so many fun shenanigans? My adventures in Hungary as a wedding photographer?

Here are some of the Highlights

Ended up in Europe’s second largest lake with my camera twice, amazing Hungarian cuisine, random dog encounters, lakeshore games, Rock n Roll DIY touches, epic dance moves, way too much Palinca, torn grooms trousers and 3am lake shenanigans.

My Story with Timea & Paul

I’d met up with Timea and Paul in London last summer to chat about their exciting plans to have their wedding at Europe’s largest in Timea’s home country of Hungary. We quickly hit it off chatting about our loves for travel and food/wine (Hungary is awesome at both of these). The only frustrating this was that I had to wait a year for the wedding to arrive.

My First Destination Wedding Booking

This was also my first destination wedding I’d ever booked so I was super excited about that. Why Hungary you might ask? Timea is from Hungary, although both her and Paul live in London (Timea run’s a dog walking business, something she is very passionate about – hence why running into some dogs on the day was awesome). But outside the family connect, Hungary is beautiful, warm yet not too hot, has amazing wine and spirits (missing that Polinca) and so much great meat.

Plus Hungary is easy to get to from the UK and compared to catering a wedding in London, sooo much cheaper, allowing you do have all the things you want on your wedding day without having to bust the bank.

Budapest Adventures

I arrived in Budapest a couple of days before the wedding to soak up some of the city which had been high up on my travel wish list for some time. It did not disappoint. I spent most my time exploring the Eastern part of pest which was filled with little restaurants serving mouth watering goodness and some of the coolest bars I’ve ever seen called Ruin Pubs (if you go you’ll see why).

Wedding Celebrations by Lake Balaton

I then joined Timea, Paul and their family and friends at Lake Balaton to relax ahead of the wedding. As well as having some of Timea’s Hungarian family and friends there, a lot of their friends from back in the UK had flown out. Hanging with such an awesome crowd in that peaceful spot by the water…. I could have stayed there for weeks. Life as a Hungary wedding photographer was shaping up to be a pretty amazing gig.

Ok now on to the wedding day…….As I’m really struggling to come up with the words to do the energy of the day justice I think I’m just going to leave the photos to do the talking for me. But in short – it was an absolute blast from start to finish!

Thank you so much again Timea & Paul for inviting to come share in your epic Hungarian adventure!
