Being paid to travel the world as a destination wedding photographer and experiencing new places and cultures really is a childhood dream come true. Yes 15 year old Matt it can happen! From a young age I was lucky enough to have my parents take me on adventures all around the world (Greece, Morocco, Uganda, France, US and more). This instilled a passion for travel, exploring new places and cultures which I’ve been fuelling ever since. During my university holidays I used to take off on trips around Africa and Asia (Bangladesh and Nepal being two of the many highlights). After University I went and lived in Freetown, Sierra Leone for half a year which had a significant impact on me. During these travels, as much as I loved the mouth watering new tastes, stunning landscapes and cheap beers, it was the people and their stories that really made a place unique. It was this same interest in people and their stories which got me interested in weddings in the first place.
In 2016 I’ve already been lucky enough to photograph some incredible weddings in Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, Florence, Hungary and Denmark. These will all be hitting the blog soon. For each of these weddings I arrived in country a couple of days before the wedding for three reasons. 1) to give me a chance to soak of the atmosphere of the place; and 2) capture some street photography for the couples which show off the uniqueness of the city/country they’d chosen, 3) make sure I’m well and rested.
