Sarah & Jim’s Awesome Urban Pub Wedding In London

One of the best parts about being a wedding photographer is getting to see how a couple creates a day built around their passions, interests and characters. Jim and Sarah’s London wedding was a great example. They created a beautifully relaxed and informal affair that ended up in one of their favourite locations – a London pub. They even had a pub quiz that they’d written themselves about their favourite things – how cool is that?! It was a real pleasure to share their day with them and all their awesome friends and family. Now over to Sarah and Jim for their views on their London wedding:

What was your favourite part of your London wedding?

I think we were both really surprised to find it was the ceremony. I know that sounds strange but we’re both quite matter of fact and I think the sheer emotion of the ceremony – albeit a quick civil one – blew us both away.

What made you choose a London pub as your wedding venue?

We both knew we wanted to get married in London – it’s our home and always will be. We knew we wanted a relaxed, daytime, informal affair too, so having lunch in a busy working restaurant was important to us. We spend a lot of time in various pubs so we decided very early on to keep it real and focus on what we enjoyed about each other and life… worryingly, that’s the pub!

What made you choose your details and styling for your London wedding?

Decor was kept to a minimum – we didn’t want the fuss of setting things out and relying on people who should have been enjoying the day with us. The florist was someone Jim had worked with before and, as we both liked her style, it was easy enough to just hand over responsibility and we knew we’d like the result. We both ended up getting our outfits made for us by small, London-based suppliers which felt important. The outcome was something which was completely personal to each of us and which we both felt super comfortable and relaxed in.

Do you have any advice for other couples planning their wedding?

We actually found the whole thing relatively easy… although we’re both operations managers by trade, so that must have helped!

Our one thing would be to get what you want because you want it and not because you feel like you have to. We didn’t always agree, but we always found a way to get to a situation where we were both getting what we wanted in various ways!

Finally, a big shout out to all the other suppliers that made Sarah and Jim’s wedding so awesome!
