Colourful Holi Celebrations in London thanks to Dishoom

Holi (also known as the festival of colours and love) might just be my new favourite holiday! Bright colours, children’s laughter, an old man’s chuckle, delicious snacks, energetic music, a strong community vibe, fun and mayhem. This all combined for a fantastic first time Holi experience!

Where does Holi come from?

So a bit of history. Holi signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring, and the end of winter. For many it is festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair ruptured relationships (thank you Wikipedia). As an ancient Hindu festival it started in India and Nepal. Today it is celebrated across Europe, North America and many other countries across the globe.

My Poor Camera

As much as the flying bright coloured powders created amazing photo opportunities it also posed a serious threat to my camera. I had to do a lot ducking and diving, making it a very energetic couple of hours. You could pick out the veterans as those who had wrapped their camera bodies in cling film.

Big congrats to Dishoom for organising such an amazing event! If you haven’t already I highly recommend you check out on of their London restaurants.
