5 Reasons To Have A Brunswick House Wedding
1. Brimming With Character and History
As an 18th century Georgian mansion Brunswick House feels at odds with its neighbouring skyscrapers, but this is part of its charm. It feels like an escape from city, like you’ve walked into a magical world while the rest of city continues to rush by outside. Thanks to its listing in 1973 as a protected building, it won’t be going anywhere soon.
Each room is brimming with character! From portraits, furniture and cupboards filled with trinkets, to chandeliers and a grand piano. From the classic to the slightly odd. Every item holds a story.
The warmth offered by its large log fires and homely vibe is probably why Brunswick House weddings are especially popular in the winter.

2. A Late Licence
Want to dance the night away with all your closest friends and family until the early hours? This can sometimes be a challenge when having a London wedding as lots of venues have to cut off the music by 11pm or 12am because of licence restrictions. Brunswick House on the other hand comes with a 1am late license. This makes it a perfect venue for those that love a good party.
3. Incredible Food & Amazing Staff
Having photographed over 150 weddings in nearly as many venues, I’ve been lucky enough to sample an abundance of mouth watering delights. Still, Brunswick House stands apart in this area. After photographing 5 weddings at this amazing venue I can confidently say that their food is consistently some of the best I’ve ever enjoyed at a wedding.
The range of flavours are simply divine. I guess it must help that Brunswick House has a “critically acclaimed, produce-led modern British restaurant” attached to it. With generous portions you also don’t have to worry about your guests going hungry.
Their staff, led by Jo is also one of the most friendly, accommodating and hard working I’ve had the pleasure of working along side at a wedding. This can have a big impact on your enjoyment of both planning your wedding and the day itself.
4. So Many Rooms!
Spread across 3 floors you have a total of 5 rooms and cellars. This offers a curated journey round the house for you to enjoy with your guests. The Brunswick House team can offer great advice on how to make the best of each room.
Your guests to welcome drinks in the Parlour/Library and Study, followed by your ceremony in the library, then move up to the Saloon/Smoking Room for your wedding breakfast and then dance the night away in the Cellar Rooms. Each room has its own unique vibe and character. Even in the cellar you have 3 main rooms which can be split as you wish.
With all the different rooms in close proximity, the energy of your celebrations remains high (sometimes an issue with larger venues) and any guest you look for is just around the corner.
5. A Central London Location
An important factor of planning your wedding is where will your guests stay and how will they reach your venue. With its central London location Brunswick House makes this part easy. There’s a range of hotels within walking distance and if your guests want to stay a little further away, they have the option of Uber/taxis or the Vauxhall Underground Station which is only a 3 minute walk. This provides lots of options for guests who want to enjoy themselves without the burden of driving later.
While Brunswick House does host wedding ceremonies, if you’d prefer to have your ceremony in another location this is possible too. There’s an abundance of London’s top wedding venues within a short drive of Brunswick House. One the most popular of these is the Asylum (a ruined chapel) in Peckham. As a very popular alternative wedding ceremony venue in London it’s recommended you book them early.
