Steven & Edith's Private London Eye Proposal
Edith and Steven both grew up in Hong Kong, but London has been home since their teenage years. With Edith’s 30th birthday just around the corner, Steven wanted to do something meaningful, something unforgettable.
Steven shared how Edith wasn’t really into being in the spotlight. She’s quiet, doesn’t take many selfies, and they’d never had professional photos done before. He was looking to have a quiet, private proposal that still really special. And that’s where the London Eye came in. Did you know that you can book your own private pod?

5 Reasons to Propose on The London Eye
Fantastic views of London
From the top, you get a 360° view of London. There’s nothing quite like proposing with the Thames, Big Ben, and Tower Bridge all spread out beneath you.
Great for couples who want to escape the spotlight
You can book a private capsule, like Steven did, and have the space to yourselves. No crowd, no pressure, just you two (and a sneaky photographer if you want). Interested in other indoor private London locations that are perfect for a proposal?
Beautiful for a proposal any season, rain or shine
London weather is unpredictable. A private capsule keeps you dry while still giving you an incredible experience. Whether it’s sparkling on a winter evening or glowing during a summer sunset, the Eye has charm all year round.
Timed to perfection
A full rotation takes about 30 minutes. That gives you the perfect amount of time to build up to the proposal, pop the question, and soak in the moment.
Iconic London photo spots right outside
Step off the Eye and you’ve got Westminster Bridge, Big Ben, and the Thames right there. No need to travel far for gorgeous backdrops for your engagement photos.

S&E's London Eye Proposal Story
It was the first winter during the COVID pandemic. Streets were quieter, and the air had that eerie, slowed-down stillness that only 2020 could bring. Steven booked a private capsule on the London Eye. My wife (a super-talented photographer herself) and I, pretending to be a tourist couple, joined them in the capsule. Edith had no idea.
As we reached the very top, London sprawling quietly beneath us, Steven turned to Edith, pulled out the ring, and asked her to marry him. This was when I switched roles from tourist on a romantic holiday, to a proposal photographer. She said yes (of course). We spent time after the proposal taking in the view from the capsule, then stepped outside for some engagement photos along the South Bank, Westminster Bridge, Big Ben, and finally into the peaceful corners of St James’s Park. Here we were welcomed by the park’s furry inhabitants.
Final Thoughts
There’s something special about seeing London from above and making that moment yours. Whether you’re camera-shy or all-in on the surprise, the London Eye is a brilliant spot to start your next chapter.
